Gayatri Rajgor
“You Don’t Have to Be a “Tech Person” to Work in Tech”
Gayatri is a Full Stack Developer at ITV, one of the UK’s biggest broadcasters — but her path here looked nothing like you’d expect.
She considered pharmacy. She tried accounting. She did the work experience, sat in the environments, and realised neither felt right. So she kept exploring — and that curiosity eventually led her to tech.
Gayatri studied Software Engineering at university, then went on to complete a bootcamp at General Assembly to build even more skills. Oh — and she failed her A-Level Maths along the way. She’s not telling you that to encourage you to fail, but to show you that where you are right now doesn’t determine where you end up.
Today she builds the technology behind your favourite TV shows at ITV, and runs her own business helping people break into careers they never thought were for them.
Tech isn’t just for people who’ve always loved coding. It’s for the curious. The creative. And anyone who’s ever wondered — could that be me?

Jiya Bharti
“The Same Brain You Have, Built the Internet”
Jiya Bharti is a Software Engineer at Sky, where she works primarily with Python and a range of systems and pipelines that support real world technology. She has also worked as an AI Engineer at Sky, building and experimenting with intelligent systems that shape how people interact with technology. Her work centres on experimentation, problem solving, and understanding how complex software systems fit together end to end.
Jiya originally trained and qualified as a lawyer, specialising in technology and AI law. For a long time, she believed that becoming an engineer would require rewiring her brain in an impossible way. She did not see herself as sciency and had never coded before. Learning to program was challenging, especially when others around her seemed to understand things faster. Over time, she realised that coding is not about being instantly good at something. It is about learning continuously, experimenting, and being comfortable with not knowing yet.
As she learned to code, Jiya noticed her thinking change. Problem solving became enjoyable, and she now applies this mindset to everyday life. Her journey shows that struggling does not mean you are incapable. It means your brain is learning and growing.

Two years ago (since 2018), I helped Avye, who is a maker, coder and a strong advocate for girls in tech and gave her all my support to set up “Girls Into Coding” – a social enterprise that aims to get girls involved in coding and tech activities. My Tech journey with her has been fantastic, and I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved together. Working with her made me realise that I wanted to continue this journey and be part of those who are contributing to making a difference, to close the gender gap in the tech industry.
Based on the previous successful “Girls Into Coding” events, I decided to fully commit myself to Girls Into Coding. Early this year, we set it up as a Community Interest Company. Hopefully, this will allow us to reach more girls and offer them more opportunities to develop.
